Some may remember Keith Dorney, the football player. Long ago, I played for the Emmaus Green Hornets (1971-1974), Penn State Nittany Lions (1975-1978), and Detroit Lions (1979-1987). My memoir, Black and Honolulu Blue (Triumph Books, 2003), is a thoughtful and at times hilarious read about those football-playing days. You’ll love it even if you’re not a football fan.
As a pro, I quickly realized those slick agents and advisors soliciting my business did not have my best financial interests at heart. It was then that I decided to learn more about saving and investing money. That started me on the path to becoming a Certified Financial Planner® and Financial Educator.
I’m retired now but obsessed as ever. Not with football, although I remain a devout Lions fan. I’m committed to sharing with you what a lot of Wall Street doesn’t want you to know: You can create and manage a simple yet powerful financial plan and outperform them all!
My four-book series, Becoming Financially Independent, explains how. This is no fly-by-night or get-rich-quick scheme, and it’s you who must provide the necessary motivation and patience. But boy, it is worth it!
For years, I wrote the Best Money Newsletter. Each offering, published on the Full Moon, contained an in-depth look at a timely financial topic. I maintain and update this treasure trove of information for your use here.
